{"id":1849,"date":"2008-09-25T22:26:00","date_gmt":"2008-09-26T05:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/azaroff.com\/?p=1849"},"modified":"2024-12-14T08:39:32","modified_gmt":"2024-12-14T16:39:32","slug":"didnt-wamus-cmo-get-a-memo-or-something-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/azaroff.com\/?p=1849","title":{"rendered":"Didn&#8217;t WaMu&#8217;s CMO get a memo or something?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I had a surreal moment today.<\/p>\n<p>I read the news that <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20240605171214\/https:\/\/money.cnn.com\/2008\/09\/25\/news\/companies\/JPM_WaMu\/?postversion=2008092523\" title=\"JPMorgan buys WaMu\">WaMu is now JPMorgan<\/a>. Great.<\/p>\n<p>When I moved back to Canada five years ago, I left some of our US money in my WaMu account. Well, whatever, it&#8217;s a small amount and I&#8217;m sure it&#8217;ll be fine. And then I get this little email marketing nugget.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.azaroff.com\/uploaded_images\/wamu-706779.jpg\" class=\"imgbord\" alt=\"WaMu News | The holidays start today.\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I got this email TODAY. At 6:47pm. Didn&#8217;t their CMO get a memo or something? Am I about to start saving for the holidays&#8230; today&#8230; at WaMu? Hmmm, let me give that a little thought.<\/p>\n<p>Two things I liked about the email:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There was this reminder in the tagline: <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\">Deposits at Washington Mutual are FDIC insured.<\/span> <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">Whew!<\/span>\n<li>I can easily unsubscribe from future WaMu email marketing.<\/ul>\n<p>What would I have preferred? Some acknowledgement that the bank that holds MY money has been taken over and a link to some information that I need to know about how it affects me. Some recognition of what is actually going on.<\/p>\n<p><a onblur=\"try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chase.com\" title=\"WaMu\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/blog.azaroff.com\/uploaded_images\/wamu2-712912.jpg\" class=\"imgbord\" alt=\"WaMu\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At least they now have <span style=\"font-style:italic;\">some<\/span> information for WaMu customers on their homepage about the takeover, which they didn&#8217;t when I first received this email.<\/p>\n<p>Say it with me now: <span style=\"font-weight:bold;\"><span style=\"font-style:italic;\">Whoo Hoo!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I had a surreal moment today.
